Your Questions, Answered

getting started

  • Absolutely! (no pun intended). Our Activate classes are the perfect introduction to reformer pilates, where you will master all of the basics under the careful instruction of an expert trainer.

If you are unsure about joining a group class for the first time, then a great way to start your pilates journey can be with a one-to-one session with one of our friendly and knowledgeable trainers.

  • Dynamic Reformer Pilates is a full-body workout performed on a reformer machine that uses springs for resistance. Classes combine controlled strength exercises, core work and mobility training to improve strength, posture, flexibility and overall fitness.

  • No experience is required. Many of our clients attend their very first Reformer class with us. Our trainers provide clear demonstrations and guidance throughout the session.

  • Wear comfortable activewear that allows you to move freely. We recommend fitted clothing so trainers can help with alignment throughout your class.

  • Socks are mandatory for hygiene and safety. However grip socks will enhance your performance while using the reformer machines. If you don’t have a pair, they are available to purchase at the studio.

  • Just bring yourself, socks (preferrably grip socks) and a water bottle. We are a cup-free studio. We provide all the equipment needed for your workout, including socks, water and snacks to purchase.

  • We recommend arriving 5 minutes early so we can show you around the studio, introduce you to the reformer machine and answer any questions before the class begins.

  • Between the ages of 16-18 a parent/legal guardian must sign a consent form and must be present during the session.

However we do have Teens specific classes.

booking & classes

  • Classes can be booked easily through our online booking system on the website or via our app - download ‘Absolute Studios’ via your app store.

  • We have a strict 5 minutes cut-off policy at the start of class. We ask all members to be on the bed no later than 5 past. This is for your own safety and less disruption to class. The trainer has the right to refuse entry after this time and your credit will be lost.

  • Our Parsons Green and Queen’s Park group reformer studio has space for 10. The Kensal Rise studio has space for 8.

  • All classes are 50 minutes.

  • If a class is fully booked, you can join the waitlist. If a space becomes available, you’ll be notified via email, giving you chance to accept the spot. You need to have an available credit to confirm your spot in the class.

cancellations & policies

  • We have a 12 hour cancellation policy. Any cancellations made within the 12 hour window before the start of class will be considered as a ‘late cancellation’ and your credit will be lost.

  • Missed classes will show up on your account as ‘absent’. Unfortunately this credit will be lost. We highly recommend cancelling your class if you can no longer attend. This opens up a spot for another member.

  • When you sign up to a monthly membership it is for a minumum of 3 months, if you wish to cancel your membership after this time we require 30 days written notice. Please email your designated studio: info@absolute-studios.co.uk, kensal@absolute-studios.co.uk or queenspark@absolute-studio.co.uk

*please note that as a small business we are unable to pause/freeze memberships.

**if you are injured or suffering from an injury or pre/post natal we have options to pause/freeze your accounts until you are fit and well to return.

health & safety

  • Yes, they can! We highly recommend our Pregnancy Modifications Private session. This is a 50 minute session where we will introduce you to modifications to the exercises taught in class so you feel comfortable and safe in a studio class environment or you may wish to continue with the Private sessions.

If you're pregnant and looking to take part in a studio class, please get in touch first as we will need you to sign our Pre-Natal waiver and provide you with further information to continue your journey safely.

  • Joseph Pilates, initially developed his exercise system (Pilates) to help World War 2 veterans with their physical rehabilitation following injury. So, in short - yes!

With many different supine, prone and side-lying methods of engaging your muscles, Pilates can be adapted to work around any injury to gradually rehabilitate the affected area back to its optimal function.

Pilates can also help to strengthen the muscles and ligaments around the joints, making them more resilient and injury proof.

results & training

  • For best results, we recommend attending 2–3 classes per week. However, even one class per week can help improve strength, posture and flexibility.

  • Pilates is an excellent way of improving strength and stability in all areas of your body, and is a staple in the routine of many professional athletes. It develops an acute awareness of motor control and coordination.

Emphasis is also based on co-ordinating your core abdominals with the larger muscle groups in the body, which is essential for excelling at any movement based endeavour.

  • Yes, absolutely. Men are ever increasingly participating in reformer Pilates for the benefits of increased flexibility, strength and improved posture that our classes provide.
